Always Remember 9/11/2001

Below is what I wrote a few days after September 11th. My feelings are basically the same now, although I need to write an update. Will do that soon!!!

September 14th, 2001

What a strange time this is.....So much pain and sadness.....but here is the optimist's point of view: The way I see it, this is the first time in recorded history when the entire world has been in agreement on something...that these acts were wrong. Not only that, we appear to be saying collectively to the few out there who rejoice these acts that this position will not be tolerated. Your hatred will not be tolerated. Your opinion is unacceptable to humanity as a whole...therefore, we shall not let you continue to do the things that you plan on doing..i.e. spread fear and hatred through terrorism. What I hope will happen is that the world will unite in the effort to shrink the terrorists' influence and capabilities to essentially nothing. Hopefully, direct pressure from families, friends and others who have supported the people in these organizations will result in their implosion. Most of these people tend to be cowards. Without support, they will lose whatever shields they continue to hide behind and will eventually flee as cowards always do. The will of the people must prevail. When you think of the eastern bloc countries in Europe and the Soviet Union, it was unimaginable that all of their governments would come crumbling down in a matter of days. But they did. It was one of the most amazing times in the 20th century. Hopefully, the human spirit that caused these magnificent events to take place will be demonstrated throughout the world to destroy terrorist organizations, not only in Afganistan, but in Southeast Asia, Africa, South America, and even here in the USA......So everyone, and I mean everyone in this world has to take an active role to insure that we do the right thing..that we respect each other...and that we do not tolerate any form of hatred anywhere in our lives. Apathy, complacency, selfishness....these attitudes are now past tense. We have always had the power to change the world.
